Product Summary: Breville Ikon Multi-Speed Juice Fountain is 900 watts. It has a 5 speed high speed motor that features a built-in electronic smart chip that increases power to the cutting disc under heavy loads. As a result, the filter extracts more juice and can make an 8 ounce glass in just 5 seconds. The 3" feed tube allows for the easy and efficient processing of whole fruits and vegetables, without pre-cutting, slicing or peeling. It is uniquely positioned directly over the center of the cutting disc for better balance and consistent results. The 5 speed settings make the Ikon Juice Fountain the most versatile juice extractor available. The lower speeds are for softer fruits and leafy green vegetables. The higher speeds maximize extraction from dense foods such as apples and carrots.

Breville BJE 510 XL Review:

I love the design of this juicer and the ease in assembly. When you unpack the Breville Ikon juicer you know you have a top quality piece of equipment. Breville BJE510XL Ikon 900-Watt Variable-Speed Juice Extractor
was nominated for the Australian Design Award and it deserves it indeed.  Built very well with outstanding attention to detail, solid stainless-steel feed chute, and thick and mirror finished acrylic components that do not have hard to clean nooks.

The juicer features a smaller footprint with a sleek, contemporary appearance that looks good in kitchens; parts that fit together well and even the plug is in the shape of a ring so you are able to pull it out of the socket without yanking on the cord. It requires only seconds to set up this juicer. The juice extractor itself has only three pieces to snap into place, plus there’s the acrylic pitcher, pulp basket, and pusher. The parts assemble perfectly like a jigsaw puzzle, the locking bar is solid metal with a safety so the motor will not turn on if the bar isn’t raised to the lock position to prevent any accidental startup.

The speed dial has a solid feel and the digital info display is very cool looking. The cutter assembly has simple nonetheless solid lock and is easy to remove – no more pulling apart stuck cutter basket and motor base wondering when you are finally going to break it. I love the various power controls so you can juice firm fruits and soft fruits at different speeds. After selecting the speed the power requirement is automatically adjusted according to load.

It does an impressive job at juice extraction and the clean-up is easy. I love how the supply tube is wide enough that you don’t have to cut up apples and medium sized fruit.  I can fit several carrots directly into the 3″ diameter shoot, plus whole pears and/or apples. I don’t have to do as much cutting ahead of time as I did with other juicers with a narrower shoot.

Pulp from veggies comes out with little moisture and never dripping wet, so efficiency seems to be very good. The juice ends up in the pitcher, and the Breville puts the pulp inside a separate container off to the side in the pulp basket, plus a little residual of each ends up in the juicer to be cleaned however when you line it using a plastic bag there is not anything to it.

Although it has a few acrylic parts, so far, with immediate cleansing after use, there have been no stains. Juicing carrots left no stains and washing with a paper towel plus a few drops of mild detergent took about three minutes for the acrylic parts.

I can clean the whole basket in less than a minute. The only “pain” is cleansing the filter device, which will probably be difficult with any juicer you buy. I wash my juicer in a jiffy, once I worked out a good way to wash the filtration basket. The brush they supply will make this a little easier, however.

Rinse off the filtration basket and vigorously scrub half of each of the three sections at a time with the soft brush or even a nylon scrubber, rinsing each half section before moving on to the next. This should eliminate 90 to 90% of the pulp debris.  Repeat or spot clean to remove the rest. The other parts are quick and straightforward to wash, even though you need to take care to wash under the rim on the acrylic part that the basket rests in.
